Our Mission
 

The mission of the Northwoods Tobacco-Free Coalition (NWTFC) is to improve the health of the residents of Florence, Forest, Iron, Lincoln, Oneida, and Vilas counties by encouraging reduction in the use of tobacco through public information and community involvement.

GOAL:

The ultimate goal of the NWTFC is to reduce tobacco use among the residents of Oneida, Forest, Florence, Lincoln, Price, and Vilas Counties and thus secondarily reducing the incidence of tobacco-related diseases.

OBJECTIVE:

Our major objectives are to:

  • decrease the proportion of non-smokers exposed to secondhand smoke,
  • reduce tobacco use by Wisconsin adults and young adults (18-24),
  • reduce tobacco use among Wisconsin youth ages 11-17.

These objectives will be accomplished by both encouraging smokers to quit and discouraging young people from taking up the use of tobacco.

  • Stimulate communication and collaboration among agencies, groups, and individuals interested in control of tobacco use and the promotion of smoke-free workplace policies in the NWTFC region.
  • Develop a network of organizations to implement and coordinate ongoing tobacco reduction initiatives.
  • Develop a strategic tobacco reduction plan for Oneida, Forest, Florence, Lincoln, Price, and Vilas Counties.
